Weekend Entertainment Picks for Adults

Thursday December 18, 2008
Tired of holiday cocktail parties? Not in the mood for the Trail of Lights crowd? Don't worry -- there are plenty of other fun things for grown-ups to do this weekend!

Friday: Bob Schneider Performs Live
The Paramount Theatre, 8 p.m.
Come see the popular local musician Bob Schneider perform live at the historical Paramount Theatre. This performance will be recorded for Schneider’s new, live DVD. His styles range from soul to jazz to mambo to rock.

Saturday: David Sedaris’ Santaland Diaries
The Zachary Scott Theater, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Based on a book by author and humorist David Sedaris, this entertaining and hilarious comedy show for adults recounts the author's experience as a Christmas elf named Crumpet. Oh, the joys of unwieldy children and costumed Santas.

Sunday: X-Mas Pops Singalong
Alamo Drafthouse downtown, shows at 4:15 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Come sing along to Christmas pop songs, such as “Last Christmas” by Wham. There will be music videos, trivia, videoke, and post-show caroling in the streets, if you’re in the mood. The show is for those 18 and up. Children age 6 and up can come with a parent or guardian, but the show may contain some PG-13 material.
