Update: AISD Hiring Freeze Extends

This morning, the Austin American-Statesman announced that the Austin Independent School District hiring freeze isn't just for elementary school teachers any more. Today, the freeze was extended to middle and high school teachers, as well.

The executive director of human resources for AISD, Pam Hall, told the Statesman that this is the first hiring freeze in more than 10 years that has affected all teachers at all grade levels. She said the situation could change within a few weeks, though it will depend on how many teachers resign before the upcoming school year.
