In college, Emily interned at Texas Monthly and TRIBEZA magazines and was the editor of a weekly newspaper that served five colleges, The Austin Student. After graduating she was the editorial assistant at CreditCards.com and then a copywriter in the travel industry. Emily currently writes for a variety of websites and publications, including ENVY Magazine. She is the published author of a a travel guidebook about Austin and runs a travel blog, Maiden Voyage. I grew up in Houston, and in 2003 I made the 160-mile journey to Austin to attend college. I instantly fell in love with the city and couldn’t bear to leave after graduating. Austin is eclectic, musical, beautiful, laid-back, and full of Texas flavor and history. After all, the city’s slogan is “Keep Austin Weird.” What’s not to love? Austin is growing by the day and there’s never a lack of things to do. In fact, sometimes there’s so much going on, it’s overwhelming. Whether you’re new to Austin, are thinking of relocating to Austin, or are a local just wanting to keep up with what’s new, I’m here to share my love for Austin and help you make the most of this beautiful and quirky place.
