Not All Trash is Trash

Dangerous leftovers

From Jacci Howard Bear, for About.com

Recycling
Don't put paint thinner, motor oil, and other hazardous household waste (even aerosol cans!) in your garbage cart. Most of these materials should by taken to the City of Austin's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility. You can avoid some of the hassle and danger by careful management and disposal of chemicals, household cleaners, and automotive products. Better yet, try using safer alternatives to aerosols, oven cleaners, poisons, and chemical fertilzers.

No trash is the best trash
Avoid the costly extra garbage stickers and biggest carts with proper curbside recycling and backyard composting and "grasscyling."

Do you participate in curbside recycling? Feel like we pay too much for trash collection? Ever had a run-in with a garbage truck? Drop into the forum and and share your trash (well, not litterally!).
