Depending on where you're moving in from, the grocery stores you're most familiar with may not be in Austin or may be harder to find.

A. Texas-based HEB is the leading grocer in Austin. With 39 stores in the area you can find an H-E-B in almost every neighborhood. We also have Randall's (locations) (especially in the south and west parts of town) and Albertson's (locations) stores.

Super Shopping
Although originally known primarily for clothes, household and sporting goods, Wal-Mart (locations) stores have recently become the second largest grocer in Central Texas. Target is supersizing some of their area stores as well to include a larger grocery section.

Health Food and Specialty Grocery Stores
In the natural, health food, organic products, or specialty grocery arena, the H-E-B owned Central Market, Austin-based Whole Foods Market, Sun Harvest, Fiesta Mart, and the Wheatsville Co-Op all have one or two Austin locations each.

Convenience Store Shopping
The national Walgreen's {locations) drugstore chain has stores throughout town and you'll also find CVS/pharmacy (locations) (replacing all the Eckerd's stores). 7-Eleven, the chain that kicked off 24 hour shopping at an Austin store, is revamping its image and offering more fresh bakery items and fresh-made foods such as sandwiches, wraps, and fruit cups.

Buying in Bulk
For warehouse shopping, Austin has Sam's Club (locations) and Costco Warehouse Club at 10401 Research Boulevard.

While these aren't the only places to shop, they represent the larger, better known supermarket and general grocery options. And when you don't want go to the store, it comes to you. Austin Grocer offers online grocery shopping and home delivery throughout most of Austin.
