Located on San Jacinto Street, the visitor's entrance is on the side facing the Capitol (Brazos Street). The building houses a massive collection of Texana as well as superb resources for genealogy research.

Other collections and offices of the Texas State Library can be found at the State Records Center and Talking Book Warehouse on Shoal Creek and the Sam Houston Regional Library & Research Center in Liberty, Texas.

Located just east of the Texas State Capitol, easy parking is across the street at the Capitol Visitors Parking garage (San Jacinto and 12th Street)
Most offices and collections are open Monday through Friday from 8-5. The Genealogy Collection is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8-5 (closed Sunday and Monday).

The library is closed for New Years Day, MLK Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (2 days), and Christmas (2 days).
