Right near the State Capitol at 1010 Colorado is the building that has been home to every Texas Governor since Governor Pease in 1856. Built by
architect Abner Cook in the Greek Revival style with bricks from Austin and pine log pillars from Bastrop county, the Texas Governor's Mansion has gone through a number of minor and major renovations over the years - its most recent while President Bush lived there as Governor.The Texas Governor's Mansion is located at the corner of 11th Street and Colorado, Southwest from the Texas State Capitol. The Public entrance is on Colorado Street. Other nearby sights of interest in the immediate vicinity include the

The mansion is generally open for public tours (with advance reservations) Monday through Thursday from 10am-Noon with tours every 20 minutes. The last tour starts at 11:40am. Reservations are required
at least one business day before the desired tour date for everyone. Large group tours may require several months advance planning.When making reservations for tours, a name along with security information (such as a drivers license number and birth date) must be supplied for each guest.
