Here's How:
- Apply at the Bureau of Vital Statistics.
Go to the Office of Bureau of Vital Statistics, 1100 West 49th Street, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm or write to Bureau of Vital Statistics P.O. Box 12040 Austin, TX 78711-2040. - Fill out an application.
Complete the Application for Verification of Marriage or Divorce or write a letter with the required information. - Give information on husband and wife.
Provide as much information on the event as you can including husband and wife's full names, date of birth or age of husband and wife, date of marriage or divorce or time period to search, county in which marriage or divorce occurred. - Give your contact information.
Provide your daytime phone number, your signature, and your return address. If the information is to be sent to someone else, provide their name and complete mailing address. - Pay the fee.
You are paying for the search. There is no guarantee that a record of marriage or divorce will be found. Pay $20.00 for each marriage or divorce record search. It is non-refundable payable only by check or money order (no cash) to Bureau of Vital Statistics.

- No telephone requests.
The Bureau of Vital Statistics does not accept or perform telephone requests for verification. You must apply in person or in writing. - Only some marriage records available.
Marriage information is only available since January 1966; prior to 1966 contact the County Clerk's Office where marriage occurred. - Only some divorce records available.
Divorce information is only available since January 1968; prior to 1968 contact the County Clerk's Office where divorce occurred.
