Capitol Eats

Newest reviews:

Food is just one of my many hobbies, which also include:

  • The computer
  • Reading
  • Gardening
  • Baking
  • Crafts

My passion for my hobbies wax and wane, but food is the one constant. I love to eat, and I especially love to eat out. So as long as I'm eating out anyway, I may as well share my thoughts on Austin restaurants with you.

I'll be giving a general price range for each restaurant:

  • Cheap: $10-15
  • Moderate: $15-25
  • Expensive: $25-40
  • Better Bring the Gold: $40 and up

These price ranges are based on one person eating an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Sorry, I generally don't drink — so you'll have to figure in drinks for yourself.

Each restaurant will also get a rating, from one water glass (I'm never going back) to four (if I could, I'd camp out in the kitchen). Why a water glass? Well, for one thing, my husband jokingly suggested it as we were eating at Mezzaluna. Besides, it's one of the ways I measure restaurants: do they keep your water glass filled? I'm a big water drinker. I suppose I could have chosen loaves of bread, because that's another thing I look for in a restaurant: bread served warm.

I'd love to hear your experiences in the same restaurants — or any restaurants, for that matter — so email me your restaurant picks and pans and I'll post them
