INDEX

As much a symbol of Austin as it is of the school, the University of Texas Tower opened in 1937. It cost over $3,000,000 to build the 308-foot structure. The Tower houses a 56-bell carillon which can be heard daily as reminders of class times as well as providing music a few times a week.

For information on availability and the schedule of Observation deck tour reservations, call the Texas Union Information Center at 512-475-6633, or toll free at 1-877-475-6633. Please note that Tower Tours may be cancelled due to weather conditions and when the nations alert status is at Orange (High Terror Risk) or higher so calling in advance is strongly encouraged.
