As a hub for government, music, and business, downtown Austin is an exciting, busy, and hip part of town. It is usually the area where both business and leisure travelers prefer to stay when coming to Austin. Many of the hotels here offer decades of history and unique features. 1. Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel

Around since the 1920s, this historic hotel has been home to campaign offices, movie sets, and countless business travelers and legislators. It is one of the oldest hotels in downtown Austin and maintains its classic, traditional decor and beauty from its early days. It is located on Congress Avenue in the heart of downtown, with plenty of nightlife activities just a short walk away.

2. Driskill Hotel

The Driskill Hotel opened in the late 1800s and remains one of the most popular hotels in downtown Austin to date. It is regal and ornate, and stepping into the lobby makes you feel like you have stepped back in time. It also is home to the Driskill Grill, one of the most respected restaurants in town, in addition to the delicious 1886 Bakery and Cafe. It is located along 6th Street, right next to countless bars, restaurants, and music venues.

3. Four Seasons Hotel Austin

The Four Seasons Hotel Austin is located right on the north shore of Lady Bird Lake. Many of its rooms and its pool area overlook the water and Congress Avenue Bridge, making it one of the best hotels in downtown Austin for watching bats. Its lobby area has a rustic Texas feel, with cow-hide couches, cowboy statues, and replicas of old Texas flags. It also has a chic restaurant, TRIO, which serves top-notch steak and has an incredible wine collection.

4. Hyatt Regency Austin Hotel

The Hyatt Regency Austin is primarily a business hotel during the weekdays and a leisure hotel on the weekends. It recently underwent an $18 million renovation, so while it has been around since the '80s, everything looks brand new and has new features, such as modern doorbells for each guest room that can be silenced for privacy. It backs up to Lady Bird Lake and the hike and bike trail, with incredible views of the lake visible from guest rooms, the restaurant, the bar, and even their fitness room.
