October 18: Longhorn football team plays against Missouri. Time TBA.
October 19: 2008 IBM Uptown Classic 10K and Fun Run . This long distance race benefits the American Red Cross of Central Texas. The race begins at 8:00 a.m. and the fun run begins at 8:05 a.m. After the event, there will be door prizes, live music, massages, and a bouncy house for the kids. The race starts and ends at the IBM Campus at 11501 Burnet Road.
October 19: Downtown Living Tour . If you’re interested in moving to increasingly hip downtown Austin, come along on the Downtown Austin Neighborhood Associations annual tour. You will visit various lofts and condominiums from noon - 5 p.m., and can mingle at the following happy hour from 5 - 7 p.m.
October 20: Weezer, Angels & Airways, and Tokyo Police Club play at the Frank Erwin Center, 7 p.m.
October 23 - 25: 2008 Dismember the Alamo: Zombie Film Festival . Alamo Drafthouse Lake Creek is hosting three nights of zombie movies, old and new, and from all over the world. This second annual festival also has a short film competition that anyone can enter.
October 24 – 26: Ballet Austin’s Inaugural Season Opener. The night includes three different works, including a set of songs by Frank Sinatra and a world premiere of music by the brilliant composer Philip Glass. October 24 and 25, 8 p.m. October 26, 3 p.m.
October 24: Jason Mraz plays at Stubb’s. Doors open at 6 p.m.
October 24: Mo Rocca. This comedic news reporter is best known for his stints on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and VH1’s I Love the 80s series. The Paramount Theatre, Doors open at 7 p.m.
October 25: Ben Folds plays at Stubb’s. Doors open at 7 p.m.
October 25: The Bravery plays at The Backyard. 4 p.m.

October 26: Zilker Park Trick or Treat Trail. Free with two non-perishable food items, this Halloween event will have games, concessions, live music, and a costume contest. 2-5 p.m. under the moon tower.
October 27: Hospice Austin’s Golf Classic. This 11th annual tournament will be attended by legendary football coach Darrell K. Royal and ESPN’s Ron Franklin. After a game of golf in the beautiful hill country, there will be an awards dinner. University of Texas Golf Club. (512) 342-4791
October 27: . 2008 United Way Speaker Series. Married couple and political figures on opposite sides of the aisle, James Carville and Mary Matalin will be discussing their experiences and talk about today’s important issues at this dinner benefiting the United Way’s Central Texas chapter. Reception: 6:15 p.m. Dinner/speaking engagement: 7:15 p.m. Austin Renaissance Hotel.
October 31: Halloween on Sixth Street. Each year, Austin’s weirdest flock to Sixth Street in extravagant costumes and party hard. If you don’t want to dress up and parade around, at least go and people-watch!
October 31: Carrie Underwood Carnival Ride Tour. If dressing up and trick or treating isn’t your thing, come see this American Idol belt out country tunes. Frank Erwin Center, 8 p.m.
