The Factory HauntThere's Something Toxic in the Air at This Halloween Haunted HouseGuide Rating - ![]() Unlike other haunted houses in Austin, The Factory doesn't have a lot of skeletons, blood and gore, or the usual spooks and goblins. Instead, it's a more modern sort of haunted experience. Set in a business where something has gone terribly wrong, the crazies that haunt the halls and offices of The Factory are the result of some sort of industrial accident, I presume. No 2006 Information found. The Factory Haunt may not be going on this year. The Factory Haunt - Nothing is as Normal as it SeemsThe setup is not overly fancy - black plastic or foil-covered walls, stacks of plain cardboard boxes - but the simplicity lulls you into a false sense of security. A seemingly "normal" employee leads you through a security briefing (no running, don't touch the ghouls, etc.) and takes you on a brief "elevator" ride. Things seem slow at first but soon you realize that your guide is no longer with you and you begin to encounter "less than normal" employees as you take the factory tour through twisting and turning hallways, past offices, the "Clean Room" and even the employee lounge.
You'll find The Factory Haunt at: Don't Breathe the Air in The Factory HauntA toxic spill, perhaps, has left some employees stark, raving mad -- throwing themselves at the walls and at unsuspecting visitors. It's not chainsaw-welding monsters you have to fear -- it's something in the air... you may also encounter Sparky the clown roaming the halls. I suspect he's been breathing the same toxic fumes. Accompanied by Sarah and Samantha, who both loved the strobe effects and the crazed employees that taunt and follow you around, we give The Factory high marks for originality.First Year Growing Pains in The Factory HauntIn its first year of operation, I expect that this haunted facotry may improve with age. Our visit was marred slightly by a sense of disorganization. But the experience is nevertheless quite entertaining, in part because it is a departure from other standard Halloween haunted houses. Those who are too squeamish around the blood and gore and severed heads of traditional haunted houses may prefer the more "sterile" setting in The Factory. On the evening of our visit we were the first to arrive and things weren't quite ready to roll but a couple of features that stand out about The Factory experience (aside from the haunted house) are the food concessions (hot dogs, cotton candy, etc.) and the bar as well as a stage for live music during special events. Definitely worth checking out this Halloween season.
