Pitch Dark 2 at the Mansion of Terror

About.com Rating four out of Five

By Jacci Howard Bear, About.com

The Bottom Line

Back for a second year, it's Pitch Dark but with a difference. Not as pitch dark as you might expect but still plenty of thrills in the dark. You'll get a flickering lantern to help you find your way although it doesn't stop you from running into walls and monsters everywhere. Don't tell them your name and don't stop to talk to the ghouls if you can help it! Oh, and watch your step.
Pros
  • Plenty of surprises in the dark.
  • Good, creepy atmosphere even while waiting in line.
Cons
  • Some might find it not really pitch dark enough.

Guide Review - Pitch Dark 2 at the Mansion of Terror

The darkness wasn't as all-encompassing as the name of the attraction implies but that doesn't stop it from being highly entertaining. On our second trip through I found that being able to see better only added to the thrills because nothing seemed familiar.

There are characters that scurry around heard but unseen in the shadows. Some will try to block your progress, block your retreat, or try to engage you in conversation. At one point we were sure we'd taken a wrong turn and stumbled behind the scenes but the next moment the creatures were back and we were dashing through more narrow hallways.

As with many of these Halloween attractions, it helps if you don't get too close to the group in front of you and don't let a following group catch up with you. Between this attraction and the Slaughter Circus at Mansion of Terror, we found this to be the somewhat tamer of the two but that doesn't mean it's not a great Halloween experience.
