"Auditorium Shores"

By Jacci Howard Bear, About.com

Definition: A portion of park along Town Lake just off 1st Street on the south side of the lake, the name of Auditorium Shores is derived from its location along the shore of Town Lake across from the old Palmer Auditorium.

The starting mile marker for the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail is here as is a gazebo and the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue. Auditorium Shores is also a frequent site for concerts and other outdoor events.

The entrance to the small parking lot at Auditorium Shores (not available during major events) is at 920 W. Riverside Drive just as you turn the corner off of the 1st Street bridge.
