July 4: The City of Austin will put on a downtown firework show over Lady Bird Lake. Austinites can gather for free at Auditorium Shores and listen to the Austin Symphony perform patriotic music. Fireworks are from 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The orchestra will begin playing at 8:30 p.m.

July 4: 2009 Vans Warped Tour Party with Henry Rollins. Several bands will perform and there will be free barbecue from 8-9 p.m. Show starts at 9 p.m.

July 9-11: Spoon plays three nights of live music. This acclaimed band from Austin performs at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q with different openers each night. Doors open at 6 p.m.

July 10: Comedian and television host Bill Maher performs stand-up comedy at the Bass Concert Hall at 8 p.m.

July 11: Award-winning actor and singer Jamie Foxx performs in concert at the Frank Erwin Center. The show begins at 8 p.m.

July 11: Comedian and actress Wanda Sykes, who recently entertained President Obama, puts on a stand-up comedy show at the Austin Music Hall. Keith Robinson will be opening the show. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the show starts at 7 p.m.

July 13-19: Austin Fashion Week. All week long, local boutiques and salons will feature Austin designers’ work in gallery formats. There will be trunk shows, cocktail parties, spa events, and more. You can also attend the Austin Fashion Awards, where there will be live music in addition to fashion shows from the UT Fashion Design seniors and Kayne from Project Runway.

July 13-19As part of Austin Fashion Week, boutique SoLa's two locations will be showcasing the work of two local designers. SoLa South will feature Pink B Couture and SoLa Triangle will feature Chia. While there, register to win the SoLa Ladies Rock giveaway (this includes two tickets see Blondie, Pat Benatar, & The Donnas in addition to a $50 SoLa giftcard). The drawing is Saturday at 6pm at each store, and winner must be present.

July 23 – August 16: The City Theatre performs Tartuffe. “Hypocrisy, greed, seduction, betrayal with a taste of Texas in the best of Moliere’s most famous farce.” Shows Thurs. – Sat. at 8:00 p.m. and Sun. 5:30 p.m. The City Theatre is located at 3823 Airport Blvd. Suite D.

July 27: Austin singer/songwriter Iron and Wine will be performing an evening of solo acoustic music at the Paramount Theatre. The event will benefit the Midwives Alliance of North America. The show begins at 8 p.m.

July 31: The Neville Brothers perform at The Austin Music Hall. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 9 p.m.
