November 5: Austin Children's Choir Season Opener: "Resilience! Pilgrims and Pioneers." This interactive adventure showcases American heritage and will include an eclectic mix of music, special exhibits, a country store, and arts and crafts. 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Star Hill Ranch.
November 2: Green by Design. This 1-day workshop is designed for anyone preparing to build, buy, or remodel a home. Learn how to improve energy and water efficiency, increase comfort and reduce maintenance. From 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the JJ Pickle Research Campus (10100 Burnet Road).
November 6: See AC/DC's Black Ice World Tour at the Frank Erwin Center at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $89.50.
November 7: Runway to Heaven. The 2nd annual Runway to Heaven Charity Fashion show features designs from national, local, and emerging designers and the proceeds will benefit Austin charities. Held at the Austonian from 7:30-9 p.m. with the afterparty from 9-11 p.m.
November 7 and 8: Austin Celtic Festival. From 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at Fiesta Gardens. Enjoy four stages of Celtic music, storytelling, dance and more. There will be Highland games and sports in addition to food and craft vendors.
November 8: Shop 787. This shopping event will be at Mosaic at Mueller from noon to 6 p.m. It will feature over 50 local boutiques, designers, artists and more. There will also be food and drink vendors. It is a fundraiser and book drive for the Dell Children's Medical Center. Advance tickets are $5 through Shop787.com or tickets may be purchased for $10 at the door or $5 with the donation of a book.
November 8: Austin Time Bank Meet and Greet. The time bank allows locals to exchanges services without depending on cash. If you are interested in getting involved, come here to get oriented and meet members in addition to enjoying a community potluck. The event starts at 5 p.m. and will be at 1210 Rosewood Ave.
November 10: Jay-Z performs at the Frank Erwin Center. Hip hop group N.E.R.D. will be opening for him. Show is at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $25-$75.
November 11: AIA Austin presents "God's Architects," a film by a film by Zachary Godshall. Alamo Drafthouse South at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10; A portion of the proceeds benefit HousingWorks. a documentary that tells the stories of five divinely inspired artist-architects and their enigmatic creations.
November 12: Art Night Austin: EAST. This official preview of the East Austin studio tour is a chauffeured art and culinary adventure. Purchase art and eat free food and drinks. Start at any location and hop on and off the continuous transportation as needed. The event is from 7-10 p.m. Tickets cost $45. The after-party is at Shagri-La from 9:30-midnight.
November 12: Comedian Dane Cook live at the Frank Erwin Center. Cook was named one of the world's 100 "Most Influential People" by Time Magazine in 2007. He will be performing stand-up at the Erwin Center at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $30 to $100.
November 12-15: The 6th annual Austin Asian American Film Festival. The 2009 line-up for the AAAFF includes 40 outstanding feature films and shorts selections from over 300 submissions from around the world. In addition, they have a wide variety of special events and film-festival related parties to pick from. It will be held at the Alamo, South Lamar
November 13: Austin Vocal Arts Ensemble presents "Food, Glorious Food!" The chamber choir celebrates food with choral masterpieces about food, such as "If Music be the Food of Love" by Jean Belmont. At Hope Presbyterian Church at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35.00 preferred, $25 general admission, $20 for seniors, and $15 for students.
November 13: Adoption Rocks! Scott and Kristina Rehling adopted their daughter, Aynalem, a year ago from Ethiopia. It's been a life-changer and they are expanding on a small private party held in their honor a year ago to a more public event this year to benefit the adoption agency, Gladney, that made their experience possible. The event is at The Long Center at 7:30 p.m.
November 19: Fashionable Food Drive and Open House. Fight against hunger while you shop! Go to Dress Shop (315 Congress Avenue) from 5-9 p.m.; if you bring three canned goods or boxed dinners, you will receive 15% off. There will also be snacks and drinks.
November 19: Trim That Tree: Getting Your Home Ready for the Holidays Decorating Series. Learn some DIY tips on how to trim your Christmas tree at Chic + Green Interiors in Driftwood. Event is at 6 p.m. and hosted by its owner, award-winning designer Chris Beach.
November 19: "My Wicked Twisted Sense of Love" opening reception at Women and Their Work. The exhibit explores the nuances of personal relationships and remains open through Jan. 7. The reception event on the 19th is from 6-9 p.m.
November 19-December 20: Laughter on the 23rd Floor performed at City Theatre. Perfect for the holidays, this Neil Simon comedy was inspired by his early days in showbiz churning out jokes. It provides a hilarious, behind-the-scenes look at the making of a 1950s television variety show. Shows are Thursday - Saturday 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 5:30. p.m.
November 20-21:: Conspirare with the Austin Symphony Orchestra. The Grammy-winning chorus performs Mendelssohn's Incidental Music to "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and the Texas premiere of Ratcliff's Ode to Common Things. Shows at 8 p.m.
November 21: Third annual Turkey Fest at Vino Vino. From 1-3 p.m., enjoy a free in-store tasting of 30 wines that go well with Thanksgiving dinner.

November 26: 2009 ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot. This annual run on Thanksgiving day benefits Caritas of Austin. There is a 5-mile run (you can opt to run timed or untimed), a 1-mile walk, and a kids K. It begins at 9:30 a.m. in Waterloo Park and runs north around the University of Texas. Register here.
