UPDATE: 37th Street in 2007

An Austin tradition since about 1980, what started as a friendly neighborhood game of "one-upmanship" is now a delightful street display enjoyed by all. This isn't your picture-perfect trail of lights with traditional holiday themes, although you will find Santa, Christmas trees, and lots of lights. The drive through is OK for the passengers but harder for the driver who has to watch for pedestrians. I recommend walking if you can because some of the clever and intricate scenes benefit from close-up inspection..

While you can walk the street from either direction, if you're driving through, turn off of Guadalupe Street onto 37th Street at the Groovy Lube. It's not a one-way street but it is narrow and with all the pedestrians in the early evening it's best to not try to fight the one-way flow of cars.
