Austin City Council Member Seats Up For Election in 2008

Changing Places (1, 3, and 4) in City Government

The City of Austin conducted a general election on May 10, 2008 to vote on three members of the Austin City Council. Two members ran for re-election. The other position was open.

Candidate names, below, link to their campaign web sites, where available. Results posted.

Place 1

The bearded "Councilman" Demling and RG4N (No WalMart) spokesman Meeker want Leffingwell, well, out.

However, Lee Leffingwell retained his seat on the Council.

Place 3

A Shadey Lady and a Weiss Guy wanna kick Kim out? (Hey, just playing with the names, no disrespect intended. But I left out one name, just couldn't go there)

Voters gave Randi Shade the nod and she took Kim's spot at the table.

Place 4

Seeking to replace the seat being vacated by Mayor Pro Tem Betty Dunkerley:

And the winner is... Laura Morrison

Eligibility

To be eligible for office, candidates must:
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a City of Austin resident for at least 6 months and a Texas resident for a year.
  • Be a qualified voter in the State of Texas.
