Low-Cost or Free Remodeling and Home Improvement in Austin

Pay Less for Appliances, Fixtures, Home Repairs

From Jacci Howard Bear, for About.com

Do you want to remodel your bathroom, put new screens on your windows, or paint a bedroom but don't have a lot of money to spend? The City of Austin, Austin Energy, Texas Gas Service, the RE-Store, and fellow Austinites have ways to help you get what you need for free or at a substantial savings.

Most free and rebate programs have specific requirements as to income and residency. When applying for rebates, be sure you have receipts and that your purchases meet the requirements or come from an approved list of products or services.

Be a good neighbor when participating in free product programs by the city or through online lists - don't just take, give something back. Recycle your appliances and materials instead of sending everything to the dump.
