SegCity Austin Tours

From Lyla Jewel Bear, for About.com

You've probably rode around downtown Austin in cars, bikes and buses but you've missed some of the landmarks by touring the town that way. You may have tried walking around so that you can go at your own pace and see more of Austin but your feet soon get tired. Now you can ride on a Segway HT, tour the town and have a guide teach you more about the locations.

Daily Tours of Downtown:

SegCity Austin provides daily adventures at 9am, 1pm and 5pm with stops by Sixth Street, Congress Street Bridge, the Texas State Capitol and more. It's a unique way to tour Austin that combines the ease of a bus tour with the upclose and personal experience of a walking tour.

SegWay Human Transporter:

The Segway HT (Human Transporter) is one of those funny-looking electric-powered personal platforms on wheels that allow you to travel anywhere you can walk but faster and with less fatigue. Anyone 12 and up, weighing between 100 and 265 lbs can ride as long as you can step onto the Segway and are able to use your left hand for steering. Buy or rent a Segway.

Learning to Ride a Segway:

Before setting out all riders will graduate from SegCity's Orientation and Training University to learn how to use your Segway. Each three hour tour, including training, will cost $65 per person. SegCity also does parties, events, festivals, fairs and scavenger hunts. For more information visit their website or call 512-402-9299.
