2nd Street and City Hall

I don't shop much in the 2nd Street district but it's fun to window shop and stroll through the area. And City Hall is a must-see. The outside is interesting but you need to go inside. I think a lot of people miss the inside because they think you have to be going there on business. Just walk in. Look around. Neat interior and there is always art on display.

Congress Avenue

Park near the Capitol then take a walk down Congress Avenue then come back up the other side. There are places to eat, places to shop (cool souvener shop). Depending on the time you'll find free live music shows here and there. And you might run into Leslie too.

The Capitol

Not only should everyone visit the Capitol, do so multiple times. And history buffs, don't miss the basement. As a resident of Austin I visit regularly. The Capitol grounds are a great picnic area. Go after hours too for a quiet, peaceful and safe stroll through the grounds.
